 There was the time when Yahoo was ruling the market as a variable web titan- a leader in email and new search. However, the company suffered a big blow when the information of their 3 million users was put on the stake. Just ONE mistaken click is all it took for online hackers to get into one of the most advanced system of the Yahoo. The first attack took place in 2013 and second closely followed and took place in 2014. In all these cyber-mess around 4 billion accounts were affected. This caused the trust issues among the users which was also one of the reason why Yahoo end up selling itself to Verizon for just $4.48 billion for its core business- which was, of course- emailing.

eBay was under attack

Back in 2014, eBay notified its 145 million users urging them to change their password. It was clear that company was facing one of the biggest cyber-attacks of the century. How did it happen? The intruders broke through the system using the login credentials of the employees of the company. The eBay issued the public statement “we are working with the law enforcement and leading security experts to investigate the matter.” Despite of this, the hackers had the complete access of the network for about 229 days. The ebay end up compromising some essential information of the users- including names, addresses, birthdays, and encrypted passwords.

However, the company protected the financial data of the users as it was stored in the separate database which was not compromised. Yes, the company received the criticism from the users across the globe.

Uber Cyber Security Breach

We all take Uber to make a safe journey from one point to another and with the latest technology, the popularity touched the sky. Unfortunately, the company also witnessed the cyber breach in late 2016. Yes, the company received the criticism but it didn’t make any harm to the reputation as the company public the news of attack one year later.   

Yes, just like the Uber, the attack resulted in compromising the name, email, mobile number and addresses of the 5.7 million users and license numbers of 600000 drivers. The breach was the loss of both finance and the reputation of the company.
